Oh my and wow, the sequel to Makai Queen was just incredible!! It's rare when the next book in the series is just as good as the first one, but Fairfield brilliantly captures it here and I simply fell in love with the story all over again :) I'm not sure what happened to Mimi, Lizzy's mom, but hopefully we'll see more of her in book #3. I just LOOOOOVE those sealions!!!!

All the characters from the first book are in this one and we even get to read about Moho riding a HUGE shark, just couldn't p

If my children were still teenagers, I would make this required reading. Actually, I wouldn’t have to make them read it, because they would love it as much as I did. I’ll start with a disclaimer… I haven’t read book one, but I still loved this book. Of course now I’ve got to go back and read the first one because I’ve fallen in love with the characters.

The thing that makes this book so much fun is that, like real life, everything isn’t wrapped up in a neat package. It’s a Christian fantasy, but

As a member of the Rave Reviews Book Club, this book came to us as a recommended read during our weekly PUSHTUESDAY event. I preface this because I had not read book one prior and I feel there are parts of the story that I had less of a connection to because of that (but it still works well referencing back at points – I do wish there was jus

A great read. This is the perfect sequel to the author's debut novel, Makai Queen, with a lot of fast-paced action and unexpected turns in the story. Readers begin to gain a deeper understanding of the leading characters in the book (especially Tessa, Kupua, Moho, Kele and Akalei), and additional supporting characters (including Henry and Eka) take a more prominent role in the world of Moku-Ola as the story develops. It is definitely a page turner and makes for a very quick and enjoyable read. A ...more

This is an interesting YA novel. I didn't read book one but found it fairly easy to follow the story but I think book one would have pulled a few things together sooner. I found it to be an interesting and different premise of blending the normal world with that of under the ocean. It definitely makes you look at marine life a bit differently. It was an interesting take on what happens in the ocean. It's a well written story that truly is about good vs evil and about the power of good, love, bei ...more
