I love eating vegetarian, but often end up making some elaborate salad because I just don't know how to do anything cooler with vegetables. That has changed! With this cookbook, I realized I can play around and make a variety of crazy veggie burgers, things I wouldn't have come close to imagining (or creating) on my own. The burgers are restaurant quality, but the recipes are easy. And the author leaves room to adapt, so you don't end up with a bottle of grapeseed oil that you never use.

Someone should open a restaurant and serve all these burgers. I would go back until I had tried all of them. But, as it is, I probably won't make any of them on my own.

Best Possibilities include:
Corn Burgers with Sun-dried Tomatoes and Goat Cheese
Spinach-Chickpea Burgers
Cashew-Leek Burgers with Bulgur and Lentils

Note: Also includes bun, topping and side dish recipes. Many of the recipes are gluten free and/or vegan.

Not only do I love the recipes, I love the author too! We've made several of these amazing veggie burgers and have been impressed by how easy and delicious they are, whether you're a vegetarian or a carnivore! My favorite recipe so far: chipotle black bean burgers. We're living in Madrid, Spain now with few vegetarian options - I see many of Lukas's recipes in our future :-)

For some reason this cookbook was only so so for me. Maybe i've move on from veggie burgers. If you do like burgers, in a wide array of styles and ingredients, along with their buns, this is the book for you.

This is such a pretty cookbook! Beyond gorgeous full-color photographs of the food, the recipes themselves are colorful with the numbers in blue and the headings in red or green. It’s not just readable and usable; it’s fun to do both.

This is a vegetarian cookbook, not a vegan one, but there are quite a few vegan recipes, and they are all clearly labeled with a green “V.” There are also some gluten free recipes labeled with a green “GF.” These labels are found in both the contents and on the reci

Anyone interested in making their own veggie burgers should take a look at this book. It is certainly comprehensive, and everyone should be able to find something of interest.

The author is clearly very knowledgeable and experienced, and the directions are thorough and easy to understand. I especially enjoyed the section at the beginning which gives a nice overview of helpful information before getting started.

There were some things I disagreed with (for example, I far prefer grilling to any othe
I loved his other cookbook "Vegetarian Entrees That Won't Leave You Hungry," so I figured I could give this one a try. It was a nice guide to easy veggie burgers, literally anything you could think of he had a recipe for and included toppings, sides, and buns. I am very interested to try the Easy Bean Burgers, Quinoa Red Bean and Walnut Burgers, Best Portobello Burgers, Red Cabbage Slaw, and Quick-Pickled Red Onions. 3 stars.

As I stated above I just love to make burgers and this book has plenty of variations to try! Not only bean based burgers but also tofu based, tempeh based and veggie based. It also has a small selection of salads, sauces and burger buns. It is a very complete book if you want to start making your own burgers.... Visit for the full review.

Disaster! Made the chickpea spinach burger and it was awful. Absolutely no seasoning except for one teaspoon of cumin seeds (ARE YOU JOKING?) and the timing was totally off. If you add up all the individual time estimates listed within the directions, they add up to almost twice as long as the official time estimate given at the front of the recipe! Also, the proportions were wrong. Ugg. There are plenty other recipes in here for me to try, but now I'm scared to do so...

Haven't made something out of the book yet but there are some really nice and healthy ideas in there and he covers everything, from the burgers to making your own buns, toppings, salads and other side dishes. It's completed with some extra information about how to prepare certain ingredients. Will definitely be trying some recipes!

Great little book with innovative recipes for vegetarian burgers. Most sound pretty good, a few odd ones, but lots I'd like to eat. Also good description of how to use beans, tofu, tempeh, tvp, veggies to make burgers, how to store them, and other very useful tips.

Finally made a burger from this book. A smokey tofu burger with black beans, cilantro and lime juice. Totally delicious!
I should have baked them longer for a firmer texture, but they smelled so great - had to taste one.

Hit or miss on consistency - too wet or too dry. Still, good favors and inventive ideas. Many consist of *a lot* of filler like bread crumbs.

Best little veggie burger book. Very tasty. Though it takes a little practice to get the consistency right.

Don't eat those nasty store bought burgers.
