This is the sort of creativity the ReBoot remake needed. Wreck It Ralph is an amazingly great movie and this sequel certainly shows potential.

“Bunny gets the pancaaaake.”

Tom Wood (tom_wood) | 25 comments The classic structure of the hero's journey usually leaves nowhere to go afterward. The events of the story are the protagonist's peak experience that solve their life challenge, and they live happily ever after. 'Wreck-It Ralph' is such a true version of the hero's journey (he even chases a badge that says he's a hero) that I am doubtful that this sequel can rise above the low level set by most sequels to a completed story.

However, hope springs eternal.

looks much better than RPO.

Trike | 4913 comments Saw this today and it is the equal to the first one. They did two very smart things: 1) asked “what happens after ‘happily ever after’?” and 2) embiggened the world while shrinking the story.

Since it’s the day after Thanksgiving, the audience was packed with little kids. (If your kid is still using a pacifier, leave it in the car.) There are plenty of jokes for both kids and adults, but it is definitely a kid-focused movie. It was funny to hear the kids laugh at silly fart jokes and then immediately afterward hear all the adults laugh at references to Friendster.

The pancake trailer linked above is the mid-credits scene. There is apparently an after-credits scene, too, but we didn’t stay for that. I’ll be buying this once it’s available,

As with Wreck-It Ralph, the background is just jam-packed with references, so I’m kinda looking forward to that once it hits disc.

I hope you mean leave the pacifier (aka dummy) in the car, and not the kid ;-)

No.

KevBayer (SporadicReviews) | 513 comments Saw it opening night with the entire family, except my son who had to work. My oldest daughter has cosplayed as Fix-it Felix since the first one - so she's a fan, yeah.

We loved this movie. It was fun, had a ton of action and humor, heatwarming, a bit sad. A great sequel!

The Disney Princesses need their own team-up movie! ( :-) Jim C. Hines wrote a series of books about that, btw.)

Cool. Do you have a photo?

Wreck-It Ralph was on regular TV last night so I watched it again for the first time in a while. I was surprised to see just how similar the two movies are thematically and tonally, much closer than I remembered.

KevBayer (SporadicReviews) | 513 comments Here you go. That's a link to her facebook page, she has several Felix pics there, plus others.

She's doing a charity event today in Bellevue as Fix-it Felix along with some Disney Princess cosplayers. I think it's a screening of Ralph Breaks the Internet for Make-a-Wish kids.

terpkristin | 3665 comments OMG the egg at the very end. Totally played. I remember seeing the reference in the credits and didn't put two and two together.

Also I liked the deep cut reference to orkut in the social media stuff. Definitely one I'll procure and spend a lot of time looking at "the internet" and looking for all the references. I literally laughed at Geocities.

Same! I looked at that in the credits and thought "I don't remember that in the movie. Weird."
