If you do a consolation vote, don't forget Theft of Swords. That seems to keep losing in the polls too :(

Do you really want it to come second in the second place run off 😂

Iain Bertram (Iain_Bertram) | 605 comments Political... damn right there was political.

The US gave eugenics to Germany, the book may be commenting on politics much closer to home...

Want? No. Expect? Probably.

Rob Secundus (Quintessential_Defenestration) | 1035 comments Good news about Lovecraft Country-- it is unquestionably science fiction and fantasy. I don't want to spoil too much, but it pays tribute to every single kind of story Lovecraft wrote, not just those in the cosmic horror genre.

Francis x | 53 comments I was wondering the book might had influenced on The PKD/Phillip k Dick. Sound like that A. E. van Vogt might be the man in the high castle multi-universes and The Golden Man(novella). Well. book was published in 1940s.

AndrewP (AndrewCa) | 2184 comments If Peter F. Hamilton dictated his books while hiking.. he would have to go on some really long hikes!

Kardo (bosskardo) | 37 comments It was fun listening to people's complaint but most didn't seem to realise when the book was written. For something that old it was really refreshing.

Plot convenience and harem aside, it wasn't that bad. The setting was interesting and for me the most important part. Yes, characters were a bit bland but it didn't ruin it. And science was bad but you can't expect better from a book that old.

I think it was good Cathleen was killed. She wasn't that good of a character. And I don't get people who didn't like it because it was surprising . I'd take a plot twist before predictable end any day.
